April re-homings

Hi there!  I am pleased to say that two more baboons have reached their new homes before Easter.  The second to start his journey, but the first to arrive, travelled from our seaside home in the south of England, all the way to a new seaside home in the north of England.

Here is Bobby checking out his new view.

Here is Bobby meeting his new family, our dear friends @LUCKYBLUEYHONEY.  The first evening he was there he watched football with his new family and gave piggyback rides to them all.

Yes all at the same time!!

We can see he is part of the family, they all wish us Happy Easter.

I think Bobby looks very happy in his new home.

Bobby's sister Babs had a longer journey, she went all the way to Carolina in the US of A!!  To live with lovely @SamTheWatcher.

Well, it clearly didn't take Babs long to check out her new home and find some sweets (candy)!!

It looks as though Babs started getting on well with her new sisfurs right away.  Here she is getting to know Charlotte.

Well yes, Babs is a girl and she is set on becoming a southern belle so she went shopping.  She clearly has an eye for style, she bought these fetching disco earrings!

Hey the girl's got style!

Well that looks like two more happy rehomings don't you think?  There are four more rehomings underway.  So far 94 baboons have reached their new homes and the next four will make 98.  I really want to get to 100!  I was going to stop there, but as long as there are homeless baboons and pals who want to give them homes, I will carry on.

Let me know if you have room for a baboon, or even for another baboon.

Presents

I have been a very lucky baboon this week.  Three presents have arrived at Baboon HQ for us baboons and Leroy.

Firstly some lovely blankets arrived from our dear friends D.Cunningham (@skye613), in Florida.  These lovely blankets are for the baboons who are waiting for homes.  As you can see the baboons tried them out and found them very snuggly and cosy.  I don't think they will ever want to move on now.  Thank you so much, the blankets are lovely.

Then some lovely presents arrived from lovely @NancyCakeFace in Houston, Texas.  Such lovely things, a Houston calendar that we can use next year, some yummy chocolates, a very funny fridge maget of Texas and a keyring of Houston.  My little brother Denis there has got hold of some monkey sticking plasters that were in the package.  He is the most likely baboon here to be the first to need those I can assure you, he has lots of scrapes!  The magnet is on the fridge and the keyring is holding my person's keys.  We are sharing the chocolates!!  Thank you so much Nancy for such lovely things.  You know I love Texas!!

Then yesterday some lovely chocolates arrived from those lovely 3 bears @LuckyblueHoney.  The chocolates are for me and @LeroySealion.  Look this one has my name on!!  Leroy is very interested in the chocolate bugs and bees!!  We will share them with all the baboons and lions of course!! Thank you so much dear Bears.

Thank you to all of you. HUGS HUGS HUGS

March Rehomings

I am pleased to say that four baboons have reached their new loving homes in the last two weeks.

All four left Baboon HQ on Saturday 8 March.  The first to arrive only had a short hop across the Solent to @lilliandarchie.

Hairy Harry started life in his new home by feeding the chickens.  Of course he had to prepare their food first.

Harry was allowed to use a knife to chop up the chicken's veggies, but not all baboons are safe to do this so check your baboon out before allowing the to use sharp knives.

Harry has proved to be a baboon of many talents.  He has been working in the hairdressing salon and yesterday he covered a chair.

Harry is a handsome chap as well as talented.  Of course after all that work Harry deserved a treat.

Yep well baboons and biscuits (cookies)!!

The next to arrive also travelled in England but went a bit further north to @WabbitWisdom.

Murphy also arrived after only two days travel, but he was rather tired and Wabbit let him sleep peacefully.

Wabbit is very kind to Murphy and gentle, even though Murphy was snoring.

The other two baboons were travelling to the US so they took a bit longer.

Bernard arrived at @NancyCakeFace's house after nearly two weeks travel.

He was tired after all that travelling and took over Nancy's basket.  After that they did play though.

I think they started off by checking eachother out a bit.

Nancy let Bernard share her window, that is probably a good sign of friendship.

After exactly two weeks the final baboon arrived in Florida with @Skye613.  He joined their other adopted baboon Harry B Toes, they are cousins and you can see they are very fond of each other.  This new baboon was tired when he arrived and he hasn't revealed his name yet, but we will let you know when he does.

Thank you for reading and being interested in our baboons.  If you would like to rehome a baboon or another baboon please let me know.  All of these baboons were rehomed as a result of my last blog where people read about Rumney and thought they would like a baboon.

Spring

Hello, most of us in the northern hemisphere have had a hard winter.  We, in Europe, haven't had the extreme cold that our pals in the US and Canada have had, in fact its been strangely warm.   However, we have had storms and rain, rain, rain!  Suddenly the weather changed and we started to see the sunshine.  Little George from Baboon HQ decided to go out and investigate.

George hadn't been walking for very long when he came across these flowers.  He felt that was a good sign.

Nearby he found these lovely blue flowers.  This is good he thought, I'll carry on and see what else I can find!

The next thing George found was some snowdrops and these nice yellow flowers.  This was shaping up well, George decided Spring was here and he would go on.

George got as far as Quarr Abbey where the grounds were beautiful.  Here he found daffodils and primroses.

It is perhaps a little early for bluebells but George found some and some pinkbells as well.  There were also some white ones but his head is in front of them.  There was also a ladybird (ladybug) on the blue ones.

Well George is a baboon so when he found a tree full of apple blossom he had to climb it.

Finally on the way home he found something surprising.

Duck eggs for sale!!  George decided to investigate and climbed up to have a look.

He found duck eggs and quail eggs.  Well that's spring for you!  We hope to find lambs and calves soon but this walk was not one where you would do that.  George had a lovely Sunday morning.  Thank you for reading.  I'm sorry the flowers don't show up too well in the pictures but George want to show you that Spring will come for everyone.

Another successful rehoming

The baboon rehoming programme has slowed a bit but it is still going on.  There was another rehoming in February this year.

Rumley has gone to live in Mitchigan with dear Bode's mum.  He had hardly arrived before he was out to lunch at the Pirate's Cove Pub and Grill.  We can see he is going to be a very happy baboon in his new home.

Rumley found his home because friends of Bode's mum (@LilyLuWho T and @NancyCakeFace) suggested she might like to have a baboon.  If you know someone who you think might like to rehome a baboon please let me know.  Of course if you would like to rehome a baboon yourself do get in touch with me either by leaving a comment on here or a DM on Twitter, saying how I can get in touch with you.  You may already have a baboon who you think needs baboon company.

Its so good to see another baboon finding his new furever home!! Rumley is the 87th baboon to be rehomed.  I am aiming to rehome at least 100!!

Stange weather

The weather at Baboon HQ has been very strange.  Well not just at Baboon HQ!   Actually there has been strange weather every where.  Very high temperatures at the Australian Open Tennis tournament in Melbourne, very low temperatures in North America.  We hope everyone is doing OK.

At Baboon HQ it has been a warm, wet, windy winter with no temperatures below 6C, so no frost  We are lucky to be on top of a hill so we have not been flooded thank goodness, our baboon hearts go out to everyone who has been.  We have wondered whether our roof would stand up to the wind but so far so good!

This is the kind of thing people are suffering from in the west of England and Wales.  We are keeping everyone in our baboon hearts.

In the north of the US they have this kind of situation:

Please everyone try to keep as safe and warm as you can.  We know that everyone has to go out sometimes but stay safe please!

Here at Baboon HQ the main problem is travelling over to the mainland for work.  The hovercraft and catamarans have done their best but sometimes they have both been cancelled and my person has had to take the car ferry.

Source: WightLink website (15 February 2014)

This was the car ferry on a calm day but its not like that at the moment, it isvery rough and all the passengers are often cold and very wet from travelling to the terminal in the wind and rain.

We are sending baboon love to everyone who is affected by the weather, stay warm, dry and safe as you can and spare a thought for those who are really suffering in this freak weather.

Enjoy the winter olympics and look forward to #TeddyOlympics when we all get a chance to have a go at exciting sports ourselves.  Keep warm practicing your entries and don't forget the winter sports as well as the summer ones.

Christmas 2013 and cricket

There have been a few things going on at Baboon HQ and we did not get around to sending out Christmas cards or even running a Christmas competition, as we usually do.  I am really sorry but I would like to say thank you to everyone who sent cards and presents.  I do love them.  We did have a nice Christmas.

It started in early December when a parcel arrived from Germany.  Mini-Kolo and I were very excited and we decided to investigate immediately.

Mini-Kolo climbed up to look inside.  We found it was full of German Christmas treats.  Thank you very much Miss Miriam.

One of less good things that happened at Christmas for us English baboons was that our cricket team managed to lose the Ashes series in Australia in a really spectacular way!!  Our pal in Sydney, @WallasEKatt (WeK) thought we might be able to help English to win them back, next time, and he sent Leroy and me some Aussie cricket gear.

Well we wondered how we could use this gear to help.  We have an Aussie T-shirt, a bat, ball and batsman's pads.  We decided that the best way we could help was by getting my brother Roko and our Leroy to masquerade as Australian cricketers.

Well that was because they are so hopeless that with them in the Aussie team how could England fail to win?  Leroy has always fancied himself as a bit of a Phil Tuffnell so he wanted to bowl.  We explained that with that fine head of hair he could pretend to be Shane Warne or Brett Lee.  Roko was happy to bat, he knows nothing about cricket so he was perfect for the job!  Yes, they will be the perfect strategy for winning next time!!

Thank you so much WeK.
